Letters, newspaper clippings, and papers (chiefly 1829-1848) relating to Wellington's military and political career. Topics discussed include Wellington's acceptance of the command of the Army, his resignation of the command, and his refusal to become involved in army policies and patronage afterwards, and his ideas on the construction of the defenses of Hong Kong. Also includes a volume containing a poem in his memory and comments on the political situation and foreign relations in 1854. The papers after Wellesley's death are mainly newspaper clippings.
